Good question. He said, “How can I start producing music if I don’t have any equipment? I don’t even have a computer or laptop.”

If you don’t have any equipment, there are apps you can get on your phone but I’m not going to recommend you start making beats on those. Here is a super cheap alternative. Get on Craigslist.com and look for a $50-$100 laptop. It doesn’t have to be a brand new laptop, just one that works. You can get your hands on FL Studio or any software you can find, and you can play with it. You’re talking about spending $50-$100 to get started. The only way you’ll get better is with hands-on practice to become a producer.

Watch YouTube videos WHILE you’re saving up that $50-$100 to teach yourself how to use the software you want before you even get the laptop. When you finally get it, you’ll have a better understanding of the software and be able to start producing. You HAVE to start somewhere.

You’re going to HAVE to spend money. You’re going to HAVE to invest in yourself. Save money and buy whatever gear you need.
